BIOGRAPHY

Ever since I have been a little girl, I have been drawing and painting.  To entertain myself, I would sit for hours with my pencil and paper creating characters.  As I got older, I knew that art was the profession that I needed to pursue.  I attended the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth with majors in Illustration/Graphic Design, and Jewelry Design.  Once in school, I was introduced to the business of children's books, and fell in love with it.  I decided that children's Book illustration would be the right direction for my career.  After graduation, I went to New York, and tried to seek-out opportunities in this field.  Unfortunately, I realized it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought.  I returned home somewhat disappointed, but still hopeful.  As time passed, I got sidetracked, and decided to pursue my other major, Jewelry Design.  It was a very interesting and rewarding career decision.  I worked in the field for 15 years, before seriously pursuing my illustrating career. I had work in Galleries all over the country, and was published multiple times in a National Trade magazine which helped get my work noticed.  I enjoyed the jewelry business, but I still yearned to get back to children's book illustration.  I gave up making jewelry, and started focusing on my drawing and painting skills.  I attended the DeCordova Museum School and the Museum School in Boston.  It has been a long and wonderful journey. I worked hard, and never gave up.  I am now working with some very large publishing houses, illustrating fun and exciting projects.  My career is truly a joy, and I intend on drawing and painting for a long time to come.
